Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology MoIAT, visited Enviroserve, a company specializing in electronic waste, and Unilever, the largest producer of liquid personal care products in the Middle East and North Africa. Both are located in Dubai Industrial City (DI), part of the TECOM Group, which was established in 2004 to be a major driver for the industrial sector in the UAE by attracting light and medium manufacturing investments and to be a model for UAE economic development.

Al Jaber visits Enviroserve and Unilever factories at Dubai Industrial CityMoIAT visits are part of its efforts to communicate directly with its partners in the industrial sector, follow up on innovative industrial projects, and build an environment based on innovation, sustainability, and the ability to shape the future. Also, the Ministry believes the ideas and operations of leading companies can help raise the contribution of the industrial sector to the national economy and enhance UAE’s global standing as an investor-friendly destination.

Enviroserve’s facility is the largest of its kind in the world. It covers 280,000 sq. ft. A total of 100,000 tonnes of specialized waste can be processed there annually, including 39,000 tonnes of electronic and electrical waste. It utilizes an environmentally friendly mechanical separation process free of chemical residues, as well as industrial air filtration. This allows 96 percent recovery rates and prevents 38 million kilograms of waste from being sent to landfills every year.

With nearly 400 brands, Unilever is the largest manufacturer of liquid personal care products in the Middle East and North Africa. There are more than 3.4 billion users in 190 countries using its beauty products, personal care, home care, food and refreshments. Middle East, North Africa, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Turkey are served by the Unilever factory in Dubai Industrial City.
